hey guys I'm new here. well to start off. I'm 19, I live in fort worth Texas and have been drag racing for 3 years. drag racing is fun but I think I have gone as far as I want to go with it. the next step up for me now is drifting. here's the problem. I don't know where to start. I'm talking about schools ext. I have a passion for racing. a lot of people don't understand that. I feel like if I can start with a school, than I can show everyone what I'm made of. please someone help me find a school somewhere. thanks

Re: experienced driver, where to learn to drift
Mon, July 17, 2006 - 4:00 PMIf you've got some NASA races around your area, that's probably the eaisest legal way to learn to drift. Less okey but still legal is to crash autocross days, but be really respectful of those guys or else they will throw you out. Even worse is to pay a few hundred bucks for a track day, and you'll still get black flagg'd and run out.
You and some friends could go together and rent a parking lot, get insurance through SCCA and probably do your own drift day for a total cost of around 900 bucks - 1200 bucks. More if you want to get an ambulance around.
Other than that? Move to the styx or the ghetto and avoid the cops? Wait, I can't suggest that. -

Fri, February 15, 2008 - 9:32 AMIf you go to the local airports they usually have a runway they're not using.... just set up some cones and go for it.... Just a word of advise... use the cheap tires when ur learning.... you go through them like no~mannana and it ain't cheap!!!
I think I have about $50 to my name now because of it. lol
